I am dedicated to academic excellence in both my district and my own life and look for opportunities every day to better myself as an educator. My education at the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, Duquesne University, Edinboro University, and Gwynedd Mercy University coupled with my seventeen years’ as an Administrator has prepared me to be a highly effective educational leader. My goal is to ensure the delivery of high-level educational opportunities for all students, supported by educational technology, a robust curriculum, and online and blended learning experiences, ensuring they are prepared for the challenges they will face in our global society.
I have a diverse educational background having worked in four district school districts that have differed greatly both socio-economically and in size. Having spent the majority of my twenty-two years in education, in an administrative role, I am well versed in all aspects of running a school district from academics to operations and have hands-on experience in K-12 curriculum development, high quality instruction, blended and cyber learning, 1:1 implementation, instructional design, open educational resources, educational technology acquisition and implementation, personalized professional development, fiscal responsibility and accountability with district budgets ranging from 26 million to 226 million dollars, dealing with both increasing and decreasing student population, school construction as well as school closures, staffing, strategic planning, school safety, School Board relations, and community engagement.
I also have experience in post-secondary education, which has provided me greater insight as an educator and been very rewarding. Throughout my K-12 career I have enjoyed teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, am a University Supervisor for the ABCTE program run by Point Park University and was recently named a dissertation chair at two universities. My comprehensive and varied educational experience lends me a unique perspective and advantage as I navigate the field of education and gives me a solid foundation that stakeholders can trust.
My career is incredibly important but my family is the center of my life. I consider myself very blessed to have a wonderful family and great friends, many of them lifelong. I love spending time with my wife, our three children, and our dog. We love traveling and discovering new places. Music is a passion of mine, and I enjoy seeing live music when time allows. I am an avid sports fan and enjoy watching and playing sports as often as I can. Life is a balance and contentment in my personal life allows me to continue to reach my goals academically and professionally.
